Require Standards for Kansas Home Inspectors
STANDARDS MATTER
There are no state requirements for home inspectors in Kansas. With no professional standards in place, anyone who conducts a home inspection is NOT regulated by the state — and may not be competent to perform an inspection.
Home inspectors’ liability for any errors they make is limited just to the cost of the home inspection. They do not have to pay for costly home repair resulting from an unprofessional inspection.
A home is the most important investment for most families. Home inspectors should be required to meet basic professional standards and qualifications.
REDUCE THE RISK
Unqualified home inspectors are a threat to our families. They can miss mold, water damage, and unstable foundations, which harm our families’ health. We need to create a minimum level of qualification for home inspectors so families know the homes they are buying are safe.
SET STANDARDS FOR SAFETY
Protect our biggest investment, and our families. Re-establish the Kansas Home Inspectors Professional Competence and Financial Responsibility Act.
